Swimming on Presidents Day: Change to Novice Team

There is swimming as normal today, you will need to go through the back door because the school will be closed. Also due to the growing novice team we had to make some changes, here are the class lists if you have any questions let Audrey know.

Heart Plunge Tickets: Due this Friday, February 17th

The Heart Plunge Tickets are due this Friday, February 17th. Board Members will be at the pool to collect the tickets and money. 

Board Meeting Change - Meeting Will be Held on Feburary 9th

We have re-scheduled the Board Meeting to February 9th at 6:00 p.m.  It will be held at the PSC swimming pool.
 
We encourage all parents to attend.  As a reminder all tickets for the Heart Plunge are due Friday the 15th.

Heart Plunge- Need Plunder/Donations

Just a reminder that the Heart Plunge is right around the corner on FEBRUARY 24, 2012. We need plunder (i.e. prizes) for this to be a successful fundraiser

As of today we have NOT had a lot of items donated for the raffle prizes. The club is purchasing some of the larger ticket items like a Kindle Fire, and a Nintendo DSi...but we need YOUR HELP to gather other donations. 

Do you run a small business (photography, massage therapists, etc.) that you can provide a gift card for?  Do you frequent any local businesses that you can solicit to provide a gift certificate (such as a free meal, clothing, etc)?  

We have had some great donations in the past that have made it easy for the kids to sell their raffle tickets. Anything helps & remember can be tax deductible as well. 

Attached is our letter to use when soliciting donations. Please remind businesses that this goes to help a local non-profit and many of our parents and swimmers frequent the local businesses. 

Ticket packets have been passed out & need to be returned to the pool by Friday, February 15th. 

Board Changes

Janelle Christofferson finished her term as our Vice President.  PSC appreciates all of Janelle's hard work over the years and her continued assistance to our Board. 

Tim Rednour has be nominated to fulfill the empty Vice President position effect immediately. Please let the club President Kelly Jepsen know if you have any objections, otherwise we will just assume that he has a "yes" vote from everyone in the club. 

Swim Meet- Thursday February 9th

Calling All Swimmers!! 

We are hosting a (non-sanctioned)  meet next Thursday, February 9th at our pool, warm ups will be at 5pm and the meet will start at 5:30pm. We will send out and post the event listing as soon as we have it. 

This meet is for anyone that can swim at least a 25 by themselves.  Please notify Audrey if you want to attend this meet. The meet will be at the PSC swimming pool. 

UV Ray Heart Attack Meet - Entry Deadline Friday Feb 3rd

The UV Ray Heart Attack Mini Meet is Thursday 23rd.  The Heart Attack Meet is for Thursday February 23rd and Saturday the 25th. We will not have swimmers attending on Friday due to the Heart Plunge at the PSC swimming pool. 

If you want to sign-up you need to notify Audrey by Friday, February 3rd.  Attached are the entry forms. 

Heart Plunge - Friday February 24th

Dear Pirate Swim Club Parents, 

It is time for our annual fundraiser the "Heart Plunge".  We will be raising money for new equipment, additional coach training, and travel costs for our coaches.  For anyone new to the club here are the details: 

The fundraiser is scheduled for Friday, February 24, 2012 @ 5:30pm. 

Each swimmer will be asked to sell $50.00 worth of tickets.  Tickets are $1 each or 6 tickets for $5.  Each ticket is worth one chance to win one of our great prizes. 

These tickets will be enclosed in a packet that will be passed out at the pool on Monday and Tuesday January 9th and 10th.  Parents – if you can plan on coming into the pool on one of these days to collect the packet – it would be helpful. 

Each numbered ticket has 2 pieces: one for the purchaser to keep – and another for them to return to your child.  This ticked needs to have the purchaser’s name and phone number on the back (there is a place of this).  You child will then return the ticket stubs (with names and phone numbers on them) along with the collected money to the Swim Club by February 17th.  These tickets (yes, the actual tickets)will all be placed in a tumbler and will be drawn out for the prizes. 

On the day of the Heart Plunge, we want all of our swimmers to be able to participate and there will be competitions appropriate for every ability level. Upon completion of each competition the winning swimmers will pull tickets for the prizes. 

We are actively looking for generous sponsors who would be willing to donate items or services that can be used as prizes. 

We currently have as grand prizes, a Kindle Fire, a flat screen TV, and a Nintendo DSi XL. 

Many other prizes will be raffled off as well. 

If you have family, friends, or neighbors who would be willing to donate please let any board member know. 

The success of our fundraiser is directly linked to the prizes we are able to offer. Thanks for your support!

Summer 2011 Swim Club Enrollment

The Pirate Swim Club Summer Swim Team is accepting new 2011 members.  The club is headed by the coach of the Cyprus High School Swim team and focuses on improving swimming technique, speed, fitness and on having fun in a team environment. Pirate Swim Club team members have the option of swimming in competitive swim meets against other Utah swim clubs throughout the summer.

Swim Club practice will be held starting June 13th through August 11th 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m at the Magna Recreation Center Swimming Pool.

Registration will be held simultaneous to the first day of practice at 5:00 p.m. on June 13th 2011 at the Magna Recreation Center Swimming Pool.  Two separate payments will be required, $50.00 to the Magna Rec Center and $40.00 to the Pirate Swim Club.

Pirate Swim Club 2011 Run/Walk the Plank Fundraiser

We are excited to announce the annual Pirate Swim Club Run/Walk the Plank 5K run and 2K walk on September 24th 2011.  Please show your support by registering today. Fill out the attached registration form and return it to the Pirate Swim Club by September 8th to participate. The registration fee includes a T-shirt and the chance to win some fabulous prizes.
